Maintenance Technician - Night Shift

About the role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a broad range of diverse duties including the installation, modification, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of production and facility equipment to the standards required for the business to meet its operational goals and objectives. This position operates on a rotational 12-hour shift schedule and provides primary front-line maintenance support for a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The role is focused on breakdown response, execution of preventive maintenance activities, and resolution of immediate equipment and facility issues impacting production.

Role Responsibilities

  • Breakdown & Reactive Maintenance
    • Always perform work in a safe manner, and in accordance with all safety procedures, work instructions, and training.
    • Responsible for maintenance manufacturing and plant equipment for efficient 24-hour manufacturing operations and provide emergency or unscheduled repairs to production equipment during production operations.
    • Communicate with maintenance and manufacturing management to ensure that manufacturing requirements are met and that equipment breakdowns are attended to on a priority basis.
    • Perform tasks including, but not limited to, the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including the troubleshooting and repair of process and production equipment.
    • Absorb and execute tasks such as the setup and maintenance of PPM system, carrying out routine planned preventative maintenance, calibration maintenance and equipment cleaning tasks, in accordance with company procedures and equipment maintenance manuals.
    • Assist with the introduction of additional equipment, the development of existing plant and equipment, with cost reduction or efficiency improvement projects.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
    • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with CMMS schedules and equipment manuals.
    • Inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust, and calibrate mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Replace worn or defective components to prevent unplanned downtime.
    • Identify early signs of equipment degradation and document findings for follow-up.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Perform all work in compliance with safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
    • Verify equipment is safe before returning to production.
    • Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and equipment hazards immediately.
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Document all maintenance activities, downtime, and parts usage in the Limble CMMS.
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment condition.
    • Communicate clearly with production and maintenance supervision.
    • Report the operational status of all equipment; including detecting and reporting faulty and abnormal equipment operation and a plan to return to production.

What you'll need

  • Education/Experience
    • Associate degree preferred.
    • Demonstrated skills in maintenance with 3 to 5 years of work experience and education.
    • Prior PPM system use: implementation and set up experience a real plus!
    • Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, work instructions, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills, able to communicate effectively to facilitate the cross-fertilization of ideas.
    • Team oriented.
    • Prior work experience with plastics/polymer manufacturing equipment a real plus!
    • Travel and passport may be required.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Use of Outlook, Excel, Word, and CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System)
    • Plastics Extrusion and associated systems
    • Mechanical, Fitting (precision machine assembly bearings/alignment etc.)
    • Electrical/PLC/Automation
    • Motors (servo’s and VFD)
    • Fluid Systems (Hydraulic and Pneumatic)
    • Pump control and maintenance (Centrifugal, diaphragm, Mag Drive)
    • Temperature control systems
    • Instrument Calibration
    • Shop Fabrication, Welding/Machining/Milling/Turning
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to traverse the facility.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
    • Ability to tolerate industrial noise levels.
