Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, install, and inspect automated feed systems, fresh water systems, recycle systems, cool cells, ventilation, controllers, and penning for animal production facilities sites.
  • Ensure operations run efficiently and effectively by maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Follow work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment that require replacement, repair or maintenance.
  • Welding of building equipment including load-out chutes, and fabrications of some penning or gating.
  • Must be on call available for emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or greater, High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months experience or training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and work orders.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license, acceptable MVR, and ability to pass DOT physical and obtain medical card.

SCHEDULE

  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
  • After-hours, weekends and overnight travel as requested.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is dependent on which environment you are in.
