Maintenance Technician III (non-exempt)

About the role

This position works out of our Brownwood, Texas manufacturing facility and reports to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Tech III is responsible for mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and performing regular preventative maintenance and electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs, including changing bearings, seals, shafts, replacing hardware, reading wire diagrams, and wiring motors
• Analyze machine error messages and information from operators to diagnose equipment issues
• Follow and comply with machine/facility Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company safety policies; report accidents, property damage, or near misses to a supervisor
• Maintain a clean work environment after completing tasks
• Respond to maintenance requests submitted via the reporting app or communicated by the production team; document repairs/maintenance in records
• Perform routine maintenance of machines and parts, such as inspecting drivers, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and other preventative actions
• Report and document issues requiring escalation
• Prioritize maintenance requests based on impact to the production schedule
• Help maintain parts inventory for the facility
• Support production line and general operation teams on various projects as needed
• Research and troubleshoot maintenance issues using repair manuals, equipment schematics, and other resources to diagnose malfunctions
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Forklift certified
• 5 to 10 years of experience in general repair/equipment maintenance, construction, electrical, or related fields
• Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures
• Basic mechanical skills
• Welding experience
• Electrical experience
• Experience working on drag conveyors, screw conveyors, gearboxes, pulley systems, chains, and sprockets
• Experience with control wiring and three-phase 240 and 480 volts
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic controls
• Able to support off-shift maintenance issues when skills are not immediately available during operating hours, including working overtime
• Able to perform basic 3-phase and single-phase industrial electrical repairs
• Able to perform diagnostic tests with a basic electrical multimeter (voltage, current draw, and continuity)
• Able to read blueprints and electrical drawings
• Flexible and able to work as a team player in a positive and professional manner
• Willing to submit a background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Sensor and PLC troubleshooting
• Knowledge of VFD controls
• Experience troubleshooting electric motors
• Experience with stick welding

Essential Functions

• Ability to push, pull, carry, or lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours
• Ascend/descend a ladder or stairs daily
• Ability to operate a computer and other office technology
• Ability to observe details at close range
• Must be able to work in areas with exposure to loud noises
• Must be able to work safely in areas with hazardous equipment and materials
• Must be able to relay accurate information via multiple communication vehicles, including verbal and written mechanisms
• Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
• Occasionally position self to access low spaces
