About the role

The Maintenance Technician III position is within the Operations-Maintenance department based in Greensboro, NC. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience in various systems and equipment, with a focus on advanced maintenance and repair tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced maintenance and repair tasks
  • Take a lead role in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and procedures
  • Conduct in-depth inspections and analysis to identify root causes of equipment failures
  • Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of control systems
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and software to diagnose and rectify problems
  • Install, program, troubleshoot, and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Perform electrical wiring from low voltage through 480-volt 3 phase industrial systems
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Maintenance Technician I and II team members
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability
  • Stay updated with industry advancements and emerging technologies related to maintenance
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintain good housekeeping and regularly clean work area, machines, and equipment
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness
  • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance
  • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times
  • Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards
  • Adhere to regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location

Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Accurately perform basic arithmetic operations
  • Operate a computer proficiently; use spreadsheets and reporting software effectively
  • Wear/use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Understand written instructions and complete appropriate documentation as directed
  • Use a logical approach to troubleshooting issues and prioritize production needs
  • Recognize problems when they occur and work toward their resolution
  • Pay attention to details and pursue quality in work duties and tasks
  • Handle challenges skillfully, thoroughly, and effectively
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, team members, and internal/external customers
  • Independently improve or increase skills, abilities, and job knowledge
  • Deliver work on time and of high quality
  • Develop good work practices in order to get the job done
  • Use equipment, resources, and time efficiently and effectively

Qualifications

  • In addition to Maintenance Technician I and Maintenance Technician II qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, mechanical maintenance), or any satisfactory combination of education and experience demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Journeyman electrical license is a plus
  • Extensive experience in maintenance and repair of complex machinery and systems
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced maintenance techniques, including predictive and condition-based maintenance
  • Proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment for diagnosing and repairing complex issues
  • Experience managing maintenance projects, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating resources
  • Strong leadership skills to supervise and train junior technicians
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions
