The Maintenance Technician I supports the FedEx Industrial Maintenance for material handling to complete preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems. Will utilize prescribed processes as they relate to mechanical power transmission, electrical, PLC/controls, welding/fabrication and other industrial maintenance related systems. May troubleshoot component and systems issues. Essential Functions Provides basic preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems in mainly mechanical power transmission and will work to build stronger skills in electrical and PLC/controls and welding/fabrication.Will diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues visually or audibly apparent at the single component levelAdheres to all applicable safety standards and promotes a safe work environment by attending safety meetings and required trainings and addressing all safety concerns.Will require assistance/supervision in preventative/corrective maintenance tasksMay participate in smaller scope projectsMay be required to work a flexible schedule including all days and shifts as the business need dictates.Performs other duties as assigned. Mechanical Identify a failed bearing or gearbox on a single convey and successfully repairAbility to lace and track a conveyor beltFamiliar with mechanical drawings and manufacturers manuals Electrical Use a digital multimeter on AC/DC voltage and continuity setting to identify a failed or stuck relay or contactorIdentify and replace a failed photo eyeFamiliar with electrical drawings/schematics and manufacturers manuals PLC/Controls Identify PLC components Welding or Fabrication MIG or stick weld MINIMUM EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED required with minimum skill requirements. Minimum Experience Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude through background or hobbies in agriculture, automotive or other technical areasIn lieu of demonstrated mechanical aptitude, two (2) years of FedEx Operations Sortation equipment knowledge will be considered or currently enrolled in a certificate or degree program for Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics or related disciplineRelated military technical experience and electrical or mechanical trade experience will be considered Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Possess basic mechanical aptitudeBasic electrical and mechanical skills preferredAbility to solve basic mechanical or electrical problems, which may include understanding of basic engineering formulasAbility to diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues visually or audibly apparent at the single component levelEffective verbal and written communication within own department to peers, managers, and outside vendors to convey basic technical data and needsAbility to follow detailed instructionsSoftware skills, including Microsoft Office suite and other web-based applicationsPossess time management and organizational skills JOB CONDITIONS Will need to use hand tools and possibly power toolsMay be working in hot or cold temperaturesMay need to stand, walk, bend, stoop and squat Preferred Qualifications Pay Transparency: Pay: $20.35 - $31.73/hr Additional Details: Part Time Job Posting for Maintenance Tech I to Specialist job family, based on candidate level. Tentative Schedule: Mon, Tues, Thurs – 7p – 530a, Fri every other week 7p-5:30a, or 10p – EOS end of sort Saturday morning.
