About the role

The Maintenance Technician is integral to meeting the mission of Balfour Beatty Communities: delivering quality communities where people are proud to call home. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance tasks, managing inventory, coordinating contractor activities, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, and providing high-quality resident service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees one or more assets and supervises general maintenance engineers and technicians.
  • Supervises specific property maintenance responsibilities, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utilities, and lighting systems.
  • Performs inspections and repairs as needed.
  • Directs mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects.
  • Controls inventory of parts and equipment.
  • Covers shifts to ensure 24/7 maintenance coverage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with EPA 608 Universal certification, or 4 years with additional certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair, or Carpentry.
  • Approved designations or degrees in relevant fields.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in at least one maintenance discipline.
  • Ability to diagnose and implement repairs.
  • Experience with Quality Control.
  • Ability to train less senior technicians.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Valid, state-issued driver's license with a safe driving record.

Qualifications

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 maintenance coverage.
