About the role
The Maintenance Technician is integral to meeting the mission of Balfour Beatty Communities, which is to deliver quality communities people are proud to call home. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance tasks, managing inventory, coordinating contractor activities, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversees one or more assets and supervises general maintenance engineers and technicians.
- Responsible for general maintenance and orderliness of property, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utilities, and lighting systems.
- Performs inspections and repairs as needed.
- Directs mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects.
- Controls inventory of parts and equipment.
- Covers shifts to ensure 24/7 maintenance coverage.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with EPA 608 Universal certification, or 4 years’ experience with approved designations or degrees/licenses/certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair, or Carpentry.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry.
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement repairs.
- Experience in Quality Control.
- Ability to train on skill trades.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to provide guidance and training to less senior technicians.
- Valid, state-issued driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Qualifications
- Approved designations or degree/license/certification(s) in at least one of the following: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair, or Carpentry.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
- Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry.
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement repairs.
- Experience in Quality Control.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 maintenance coverage.
