Maintenance Technician III (1st Shift)

This position is based at our state-of-the-art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, NC.

About the role

The 1st Shift Production Maintenance Technician III performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair, preventative maintenance, and installation tasks on facilities, physical plant equipment, and production machinery. This role requires demonstrated competency in activities that directly or indirectly affect product safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company and OSHA safety rules, policies, and regulations.
• Perform safety and environmental inspections as required.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Actively perform assigned preventive maintenance (PMs), predictive maintenance (PdM) tasks, and continuous improvement activities.
• Use predictive maintenance tools (ultrasonic, vibration analysis, laser alignment).
• Proactively identify equipment trends, root causes, and variances; develop and implement improvement action plans.
• Develop projects and process improvement initiatives; assemble cross-functional teams.
• Cross-train the Maintenance team on relevant skills.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on all plant and production equipment.
• Quickly respond to and correct equipment mechanical and electrical issues.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective or worn equipment parts, control devices, motors, belts, etc.
• Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Perform painting, carpentry, sheetrock, and flooring repairs.
• Set up and tear down meeting rooms, including A/V equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
• Perform facility lighting change-outs (interior and exterior).
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of boilers and environmental stability control room systems.
• Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair lab equipment.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of PLCs, use ladder logic (minor code changes), and cross-train others.
• Perform equipment changeovers, train others, and improve changeover tact times.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
• Operate machine shop equipment, including lathe, mill, grinders, and drill press.
• Use welding equipment (gas/MIG/TIG) proficiently.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
• Effectively communicate shift and daily pass-downs.
• Train others in the safe and proper use of aerial lifts.
• Maintain dock levelers, dock locks, and dock doors (PMs and repairs).
• Operate motorized powered lifts (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, one-man lift); eligibility determined by MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
• Work in a team environment with a positive attitude, willingness, and desire to learn.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 8+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Skills in mechanical, electrical, welding, and carpentry.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology/Mechatronics and/or Electrical/Electronics.
• HVAC training, experience, or education.
• Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or other regulatory experience.
• Food manufacturing or packaging experience, including blending equipment and batching operation systems.
