Maintenance Technician II - Rockwell City/Holstein, IA

Responsible for

• Supporting and assisting with minor maintenance while executing major repairs of swine facilities and equipment.
• Prioritizing maintenance and repair items based upon highest priority.
• Providing guidance and hands-on assistance with curtain systems, penning, feedlines, ventilation, waterlines, and other core barn systems.
• Training farm maintenance staff on proper repair techniques, safety practices, and preventative maintenance.
• Responding to emergency situations across multiple farms to ensure critical systems (feed, water, ventilation, power) are restored quickly.
• Cooking oversight and direction of contract crews performing major repair or installation projects.
• Assisting with backup and relief for on-farm maintenance teams during high-demand or urgent situations.
• Supporting seasonal and site needs including snow removal, mowing, weed control, and general site upkeep when required.

Work Environment

• The position is performed both indoors and outdoors.
• The work environment and job sites can be noisy, with extreme outside weather conditions, and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.
• The environment may have nuisance levels of gases and dust, particularly in the winter months.
• The position requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• The position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, continuously repeat necessary movements, read and write, and use basic computer and smart phone skills.

Physical Demands

• Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.

Additional Requirements

• This person must be able to work with limited or no supervision, so they must have initiative, organization, dependability, and be self-motivated.
• This position will require the ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of mechanical issues, so being mechanically minded is a necessity.
• This position will require the technician to work, at times, with other employees, so team skills and good communication are important.
