Maintenance Technician II
About the role
This role involves performing a wide range of facilities services tasks, including technical maintenance of structural, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning facilities and equipment. Essential duties include monitoring and performing carpentry maintenance tasks, assisting in non-technical maintenance, installation, and repair to buildings and equipment, making routine and emergency repairs, applying finishes to various surfaces, performing standard repairs to plumbing and electrical systems, and assisting with moving heavy furniture, equipment, and materials.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and perform carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, door and hardware installation, and painting interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
- Perform and assist in non-technical maintenance, installation, and repair to buildings and equipment in construction and mechanical trades including plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, masonry, metal work, glazing, tile work, roofing, flooring, ventilating systems, welding, and mechanics.
- Make routine and emergency repairs and adjustments to campus buildings and facilities.
- Apply finishes to a variety of surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, stucco, wallboard, brick, and cement.
- Perform standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as lamps, fixtures, switches, photo call and outlets; assist licensed electrical contractors with non-technical repairs and installations as required.
- May perform general custodial and janitorial tasks as required.
- Repair, service, or replace appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, ranges, dishwashers, and other equipment.
- Ensure careful use, proper maintenance of, repairs to, and proper operations of equipment such as spartan snakes, dehumidifiers, floor fans, extractors, and power and hand tools.
- Attend regular safety meetings and work in a safe manner.
- Participate in and complete training programs determined necessary by OSHA, CalOSHA, and the EPA which promote safe and healthy environments.
