About the role
The Maintenance Technician position at AvalonBay Communities is seeking a skilled individual to join our dynamic team. This role involves diagnosing and repairing various issues in apartment homes, ensuring they are in excellent condition and ready for residents.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair problems in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware accessories, masonry, painting/wallpaper, water features, and waste management systems.
- Complete assigned service requests and repairs according to company standards and in a timely manner.
- Ensure vacant apartments are rent-ready in a timely manner.
- Perform turnkey work as required.
- Conduct apartment preventative maintenance.
- Assist in painting both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Maintain a safe and injury-free work environment by following safety policies and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Perform hot works including brazing, soldering, and welding within company standards.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in maintenance work, including knowledge of HVAC repair, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to accommodate an on-call schedule.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with associates and residents.
- Knowledge of safety data sheets and proper handling of cleaning and chemical supplies.
- Basic understanding of emergency systems and their operation.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of personal protective equipment and its proper use.
- Knowledge of paint types and tools.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
Total base pay range: $54,500.00 - $77,500.00
Schedule
Weekly scheduled hours: 40
