About the role

The City of Kodiak is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician I, II, or III in the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks on City infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Performing inspections and implementing routine preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Evaluating equipment and supplies to ensure effective operations
  • Executing special projects and assignments
  • Snow removal and responding to emergency spill and cleanup calls
  • Leading the work of temporary employees

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two to three years of maintenance, construction, or trades experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Alaska drivers license, or ability to obtain a CDL within six months of hire date
  • State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Level 1 Operator certification in at least one of the following: Water Distribution (WD) or Wastewater Collection (WWC)
  • State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Level 2 Operator certifications in Water Distribution (WD) and Wastewater Collection (WWC) for Maintenance Technician III

Qualifications

Desired skills include knowledge and experience with traffic control flagging and forklift operation.
