Maintenance Technician I

About the role
As a Maintenance Technician I, you will perform advanced maintenance and repairs on complex systems, mentor junior technicians, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This onsite role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, conducting inspections, managing maintenance schedules, and maintaining accurate records in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex malfunctions in pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and conveyor systems.
- Implement and perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and help develop predictive maintenance programs.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential issues and safety hazards; recommend improvements.
- Guide, train, and mentor junior technicians; help prioritize work orders and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, spare parts inventory, and work order completion using a CMMS.
- Coordinate with the maintenance planner, other departments, contractors, and vendors to schedule and complete repairs and projects.
- Respond to emergency situations to troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs.
- Follow company policies, procedures, work instructions, and regulatory requirements, including safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Act as a project manager for assigned projects; delegate, assign, and schedule tasks for maintenance and facility team members.
- Occasionally validate inventory levels and order parts as necessary.
- Perform safety checks on emergency systems like fire sprinklers and alarms.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-3+ years of experience in a maintenance/facilities technical role with demonstrated advancement and responsibility.
- Proven experience performing skilled maintenance on various systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Experience with control systems like programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and manuals.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10+ hours per day.
- Proficiency with an iPad or tablet for logging and completing daily tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or related field.
- Experience implementing Preventative Maintenance systems in the manufacturing industry.
- 1-3 years of experience in a lead role, preferably over a maintenance/facilities team.
- Significant experience maintaining process equipment, machinery, tools, and facilities systems.
- Knowledge of and experience working in a total predictive maintenance program.
- Knowledge of Lean Principles, continuous improvement, process management, and root cause analysis.

Pay
The starting pay range for this position is $28–$33 per hour, based on factors including education, work experience, and certifications.
