About the Role
This is an Operations position responsible for performing routine maintenance and other assigned tasks, including assisting with material handling equipment and facility repairs.
Responsibilities
- Complete preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery within the facility, following the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Visually inspect and test machinery to detect malfunctions; communicate equipment problems to operations staff as needed.
- Diagnose problems and repair defective machines and equipment with new or repaired parts, using manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Set up and break down food processing equipment as required.
- Perform building maintenance repairs and upkeep (e.g., plumbing repairs, unclogging drains, changing lamps and ballasts, light remodeling).
- Assist with preventative maintenance, repairs, and battery watering services on material handling equipment during downtime.
- Work night shifts and occasional weekends.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.
- Know and understand the company’s safety and health goals; participate in the safety program to help achieve them.
- Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and tools to ensure employee safety and compliance with OSHA guidelines.
- Provide management with written reports of unsafe conditions or unsafe acts as needed.
- Report all accidents, injuries, or illnesses immediately.
- Troubleshoot operating errors and determine the most effective course of action for repairs.
- Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams.
- Repair equipment or systems using hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing devices.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and determine corrective maintenance needs.
- Maintain tools and maintenance equipment in working order; keep maintenance room and work areas neat.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of single and three-phase electric systems, AC/DC high and low voltages.
- 1 year of experience in facility maintenance or preventative equipment maintenance.
Skills
- Ability to learn software programs associated with the facility.
- Strong technical, mechanical, and analytical skills.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all staff and management in English.
- Professionalism in dealing with difficult situations and resolving issues.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to extreme heat and cold temperatures, and sometimes wet conditions.
