Maintenance Technician I

About the role

The Maintenance Technician I supports FedEx Industrial Maintenance for material handling systems. Duties include preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems, utilizing prescribed processes for mechanical power transmission, electrical, PLC/controls, welding/fabrication, and other industrial maintenance-related systems. Troubleshooting is also involved.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems, focusing on mechanical power transmission and building skills in electrical and PLC/controls.
• Diagnoses simple mechanical power transmission issues visually or audibly.
• Adheres to safety standards and promotes a safe work environment.
• May assist in smaller scope projects and work flexible schedules.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude through background or hobbies in agriculture, automotive, or other technical areas.
• Two (2) years of FedEx Operations Sortation equipment knowledge or currently enrolled in a certificate or degree program for Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related disciplines.
• Related military technical experience and electrical/mechanical trade experience may be considered.

• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Basic electrical and mechanical skills preferred.
• Ability to solve basic mechanical or electrical problems, including understanding of basic engineering formulas.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills within own department.
• Time management and organizational skills.
