About the role
This Maintenance Technician I position involves daily start-up of material handling equipment, inspection and reporting of operational issues, and basic maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Performs daily start-up of material handling equipment
- Inspects conveyors, sorters, etc. to ensure proper operations; notes, reports problems
- Performs basic service on material handling equipment
- Makes minor adjustments, lubricates moving parts, repositions photo eyes, reports problems
- Changes batteries in powered lift equipment
- Maintains batteries by cleaning, filling, and recharging
- Performs basic plumbing by unclogging drains, repairing leaky fixtures, installing new service
- Performs basic carpentry by repairing workstations, furniture, and doors
- Affords assistance to Maintenance Technicians with electrical troubleshooting, replacing, or repairing mechanical components, and performs preventive maintenance
- Affords assistance with more complex repairs
- Maintains a safe working environment
- Cleans maintenance areas and lift equipment, replaces light bulbs throughout the facility
Requirements
- Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge and abilities
- Team-player attitude
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude
- Effective communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
- Valid state driver's license
- Flexibility to work overtime and Saturdays as needed
Qualifications
- 1 year of maintenance experience
- Completed at least half of an accredited technical program or course study and willing to complete the remainder within 2 years from date of hire
