Responsibilities
- Inspect property and buildings for life/safety issues and take immediate corrective action.
- Identify building maintenance needs.
- Maintain clean work area, vehicle and shop.
- Establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Process Work Orders in a timely fashion.
- Perform preventative maintenance on buildings by performing a variety of skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering, dry walling, plumbing, heating, limited air conditioning and mechanical repair work, door hardware, keying, exit and emergency lighting.
- Repair electrical lighting systems and fixtures.
- Perform basic level plumbing work including the installation, repair and replacement of plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters and pipes; clear obstructions from water and sewer lines.
- Auxiliary aid and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Three years experience in facilities maintenance.
- Professional, courteous and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to perform basic appliance repair.
- Basic ability to read and interpret sketches, diagrams and blueprints.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach when interacting with clients
- Repair and maintain a variety of mechanical equipment.
- Read and interpret sketches, drawings, diagrams and blueprints.
- Lift up to 50 pounds above the waist and carry heavy objects
- Use a personal computer and relevant computer software.
- Operate with a high level of personal organization.
- DRIVERS LICENSE Required Clean Driving record upon hire and pass a motor vehicle history check demonstrating a safe driving history
- Awareness of City policies, procedures, regulations, and codes related to facility maintenance and repair.
- Basic knowledge of hazards and necessary precautions applicable to building and mechanical maintenance Preventive maintenance requirements work preferred.
- Knowledge and implementation of safe work practices
- Be a selfstarter and work independently in the absence of supervision.
