Maintenance Technician - Canfield Apartments

We are looking for an apartment Maintenance Technician to service the Canfield Apartment community in Gansevoort, NY. The qualified candidate will have a genuine interest in serving clients, residents, and fellow employees, with the ability to work on-call and execute high-quality work with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Responds to work orders from residents by assessing issues and making needed repairs, including electrical and plumbing repairs that do not require a specialist, and repairing drywall, doors, and other building fixtures.
• Patches, paints, and cleans apartment interiors to specified standards and schedules.
• Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the apartment community and common areas.
• Maintains property exterior and grounds, including snow removal and debris cleanup.
• Keeps walkways safe and clean; walks grounds daily to identify hazards, trash, or unsafe conditions.
• Checks the dumpster area daily and keeps it clean of debris.
• Maintains courteous and professional demeanor with a sense of urgency in communications.
• Completes required logs, work orders, Entrata records, and other documentation.
• Complies with applicable safety regulations in the performance of duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least two years of related experience.
• Basic plumbing, electrical, painting/patching, and carpentry skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues in apartments and common areas.
• Knowledge of proper tool and machinery use and maintenance, with safety as a priority.
• Ability to work on-call and overtime hours.
• Professionalism in continuous contact with residents and employees.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
• Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. without assistance.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Must have a valid, clean New York State driver’s license and own vehicle for travel between job sites.
• Must have basic hand tools.
• Cannot be a resident of a Sunrise-managed apartment community.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Ability to traverse the property, climb steps and ladders to diagnose building issues.
• Must be physically able to perform repairs, operate tools and machinery, and remove snow.

Pay

$18.00 - $24.00 per hour, plus a daily travel stipend.
