Maintenance Technician

Essential Functions

• Maintains company-owned machinery and equipment in proper working order
• On-call emergency repairs
• Responsible for taking control of breakdowns
• Execute a plan of continued improvement of machine safety and general housekeeping
• Works with crews to complete all preventative maintenance
• Works with machine operators to troubleshoot and determine root cause of mechanical issues
• Responds quickly to maintenance requests and prioritizes effectively
• Works hand in hand with Maintenance Manager to resolve any accident waiting to happen forms
• Works as a team to maintain organization and inventory of maintenance shop and tools
• Duties may vary depending on location

Requirements/Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Experience: Electrical certification preferred
• Corrugated packaging industry a plus
• Strong knowledge of mechanical machinery
• Ability to use shop tools and equipment, drill press, shop grinders, welders, oxy-acetylene torch
• A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Strong trouble shooting and problem solving ability with practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude
• Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings
• Must be fully computer literate with Microsoft environment

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to perform maintenance on machinery
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular consistent basis
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment
• Work Environment: Exposure to moving mechanical parts. Wet and or humid conditions. Office Setting, sitting for long periods of time. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
