About the role

Ben & Jerry’s is an American ice cream company founded in 1978 in Burlington, Vermont, by childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. The Ben & Jerry’s factory in St. Albans, Vermont, produces over 100 million pints of ice cream per year and is deeply involved in sustainability efforts, including converting ice-cream waste into renewable energy.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will help keep the factory running smoothly by fixing equipment quickly and preventing breakdowns. Your work supports production goals, ensures product safety and quality, and helps avoid costly downtime.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, conveying systems, refrigeration systems, packaging equipment, and automated machinery.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with experienced technicians across multiple shifts.
• Work safely and communicate respectfully across teams.
• Manage competing priorities and complete tasks on time with high quality.
• Document work orders, preventive maintenance (PMs), and other tasks using basic computer skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or higher in automation, electrical technology, HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience as a maintenance technician, field service technician, or comparable mechanic/technician role in an industrial environment (required).
• Experience with pumps, motors, valves, conveying systems, refrigeration systems, packaging equipment, or automated machinery (preferred).
• Prior work in industrial refrigeration, food & beverage manufacturing, or automation (preferred).
• Skills in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, welding/fabrication, hydraulics/pneumatics, and preventive/predictive maintenance (required).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Exposure to allergens, including dairy, eggs, tree nuts, coconut, peanuts, wheat (gluten), soybean, and cinnamon.

Pay

Pay rate starts at $29.43 per hour.
