About the Role

The Maintenance Technician II works under the supervision of the Transportation and Maintenance Manager to perform routine, preventative, and seasonal maintenance. This role involves basic plumbing, electrical work, general building tasks (painting, drywall, carpentry), troubleshooting, and fiscal responsibility within budget constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure seasonal and routine maintenance of assigned sites, including filter changes, inspections, preventative check-ups, gutter cleaning, and power washing.
  • Maintain par levels of supplies and address repair needs for houses and the main building.
  • Handle internal office requests (e.g., hanging bulletin boards, moving supplies, changing light bulbs).
  • Respond to maintenance requests for Arc Houses, including wall repairs, plumbing, and electrical issues.
  • Develop and implement interior and exterior painting plans for assigned sites.
  • Prioritize and respond to maintenance requests efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in basic plumbing, electrical work, drywall installation/finishing, and interior/exterior painting.
  • One to two (1-2) years of general landscaping experience.
  • Computer skills for completing maintenance purchase orders and paperwork.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment (ladders, power saws, drills, hand tools).
  • Must lift up to 75 pounds and demonstrate physical intervention techniques (BPS training methods) and CPR.
  • Significant mobility required: walking, standing, pushing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and driving.
  • Frequent ascending/descending of stairs and ladders for home and office maintenance.
  • Exposure to both inside and outside environmental conditions.

Other Requirements

  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Active valid driver’s license with no more than two (2) points on driving record.
  • Maintain all required trainings under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet agency and program needs.
