Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities
- Aid in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including pumps, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and air handling units.
- Perform general repairs, maintenance, and replacement of building components such as building fixtures, appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Apply basic knowledge and skills in HVAC distribution and controls to adjust and take corrective actions on work orders.
- Participate in water treatment chemical programs and maintain operation logs and files as needed.
- Provide concierge-style customer service to internal and external partners.
- Develop understanding and usage of fire alarm and life safety systems at the assigned property.
- Adhere to Stream and property policies and procedures, and safely perform all duties.
- Participate in required training activities and seminars.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in Commercial Building Operations, Property Management, or a related industry preferred.
- Develop sufficient computer skills to administer required engineering programs.
- Read and understand equipment instruction manuals and other forms of instructions.
- Use power tools and other equipment appropriately.
- Compute basic mathematical equations.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies.
- Understand and apply correct usage of all personal safety equipment.
- Meet shift working requirements of the assigned property, which may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Work overtime as necessary.
- Knowledge of operating characteristics and parts of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
Education/Certifications
- A High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma preferred.
- EPA Universal Certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Obtain required city and/or government licenses or permits (e.g., Boiler Operating Permit, State Maintenance Electrician’s License, etc.) when applicable.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Work indoors approximately 50% of the time and outdoors approximately 50% of the time.
- Use olfactory, auditory, and visual senses.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Climb up and down stairs and ladders.
- Access remote work areas and confined spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, roofs).
- Use a full range of manual dexterity (e.g., sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, walking, and lifting).
