About the role
The Maintenance Technician position at StoneRidge is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the physical plant department. This role works under the guidance of the Facilities Director and Manager, performing tasks such as replacing plumbing fixtures, appliance repairs, moving furniture, painting, general residential repairs, and minor building and equipment repairs.
Responsibilities
- Performs general maintenance duties such as replacing plumbing fixtures, appliance repairs, moving furniture, painting, general residential repairs
- Performs general carpentry duties
- Performs routine preventive maintenance, as directed by supervisor
- Performs minor building and equipment repairs
- Covers security shifts as needed
- Affords assistance with snow removal efforts during winter months
- Utilizes low speed vehicles (i.e. golf cart) to transport self, equipment and debris across the community grounds when needed
- On call as assigned, including assisting with unfilled security shifts when required
- Does routine maintenance on all vehicles when assigned
- Maintains all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition
- Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- Ability to work independently and with others
Requirements
- High school education (Diploma or GED) is required
- Valid Driver License with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report is required
- Familiarity with tablets, computers, and electronic work order system
- Technical Schooling in carpentry, construction and/or background (educational and/or professional) is preferred
- Employment history involving 2+ years of facility maintenance, grounds, construction, or trade-work preferred in a Health Care or Retirement Community
- Painting and sheetrock experience preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic is required
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Moderate to heavy physical effort
- May be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- Work in area with high voltage electricity, hazardous equipment and moving parts
- Work on roof top and other high places
- Ability to set up and climb ladders safely with tools and equipment necessary for assigned work
- Must be able to lift 80 pounds
- Must be able to walk, stand and stoop for an extended period of time (over 80% of the time)
- Exposure to a variety of chemicals and dust daily
