Maintenance Technician
About the role
Serves as a key member of the Maintenance Team supporting the Maintenance Director in fulfilling community operations needs.
Responsibilities
- Performs general maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, repairing electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliances.
- Prepares resident apartments for new occupants by painting, cleaning carpets, and performing other maintenance tasks.
- Maintains the grounds by mowing, sweeping, trimming trees and shrubs, and other similar activities.
- Aids in coordinating community events and assisting in all phases of maintenance for resident apartments and common areas.
- Assists the Maintenance Director with the proper functioning of all emergency systems.
- Assists in the transportation and storage of resident property.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or previous related maintenance experience and training in carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, refurbishing, and cleaning.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs without assistance and perform physical tasks as described.
- Effective communication and cooperation skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to fulfill job requirements.
- Capable of making independent decisions and solving practical problems.
- Active listening and evaluation of social situations.
- Independent work ethic, integrity, flexibility, and positive interaction with residents, staff, and external agencies.
- Compliance with community policies and safety protocols, including infection control, emergency response, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of the Employee Handbook and adherence to its policies.
