About the Role

The Maintenance Technician works in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable company and OSHA safety guidelines. This role maintains production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery, mechanical equipment, and electronic equipment. The successful candidate will build mechanical systems, electronic systems, components, and parts by completing assembly and testing procedures, and perform all aspects of electrical installation and hook-up of electrical distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do by modeling and following all company safety policies, reporting incidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance systems to minimize equipment downtime by creating PM checklists, tracking downtime, and monitoring overall department equipment uptime.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Minimize equipment downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance schedules and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests, and recording maintenance operations.
  • Ensure production operations by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Provide utilities by directing installation, modifications, and maintenance activities on equipment.
  • Resolve maintenance problems by conferring with operators, management, engineering, quality control personnel, outside contractors, and service personnel.
  • Protect employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean building, recognizing and rectifying potential unsafe conditions.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing concepts, including 5S.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks, and participating in technical decision-making.
  • Identify and strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of job performance, education, processes, procedures, and methods.
  • Act as a key member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Subject to call-in during off-shift and weekends as needed.
  • Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned by Department management.
  • Perform minor aspects of electrical installation, including running conduit, sizing conductors, and grounding.
  • Communicate boldly and effectively with empathy and respect to inspire teamwork and collaboration.
  • Assist in applying Lean manufacturing concepts and 5S, demonstrating ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, housekeeping, and 5S within the work area at the highest degree possible.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance, including electrical, PLC, mechanical, and plumbing, with skills to troubleshoot manufacturing and facilities equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate multiple pieces of manufacturing equipment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers, databases, and/or computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to perform successfully under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

Skills

  • Familiarity with automation.

  • The noise level in the environment is moderate.
