Responsibilities
- Install, repair, rebuild and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.
- Maximize production time and minimize downtime.
- Assist in developing and organizing preventive maintenance program.
- Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments of assigned personnel.
- Maintain quality work at the lowest possible cost while meeting company standards for quality and performance.
- Communicate daily with the Operations Manager, Supervisors and production personnel.
- Perform root cause analysis to increase serviceability and reliability of equipment.
- Develop and maintain positive employee relations and ensure open lines of communication with employees.
- Control labor, material and part expenses within budgetary constraints.
- Order parts and supplies as needed.
- Affirm adequate tooling, hardware and supplies necessary to perform work.
- Determine the nature and scope of forthcoming related projects and the requirements for completion.
- Complete assigned projects as scheduled.
- Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
- Communicate daily with Operations Manager and Supervisors on general plant conditions and matters of importance.
- Ensure all safety, work rules, regulations and housekeeping standards are followed.
- Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Be available for any emergencies and on-call to respond as required to meet the needs for any onsite emergency.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment, printing or packaging experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of vendors or employees.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
