Maintenance Technician

About the role

Mount Prospect Academy is a rapidly growing nonprofit dedicated to helping adolescents overcome challenges and achieve success. The Maintenance Technician maintains two facilities within a 5‑mile radius in Plymouth, NH: an 18‑bed residential home and a school serving up to 25 students daily, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance
• Repair drywall, doors, hinges, flooring, and other building components
• Assist with painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly
• Conduct routine facility inspections and safety walkthroughs
• Lawn care, landscaping, gardening, and seasonal maintenance
• Snow removal and ice management
• Trim trees, shrubs, and hedges
• Maintain clean, attractive grounds year‑round
• Conduct facility safety checks
• Coordinate and support fire drill procedures
• Ensure compliance with fire and safety requirements
• Manage building keys and access controls
• Coordinate and oversee outside contractors
• Maintain company vehicles and equipment
• Track vehicle maintenance records and inspections
• Ensure vehicles remain fueled and operational
• Communicate regularly with program leadership and staff
• Provide excellent customer service to employees and residents
• Participate in emergency on‑call maintenance support as needed

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Basic computer skills, including email and internet use
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, or property management experience
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC systems, carpentry, and grounds maintenance
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and commercial equipment
