About the role
We’re seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our community’s interior and exterior. In this role, you’ll handle preventative maintenance, respond to resident maintenance requests, and ensure the community is safe, functional, and welcoming.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair community systems, including HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generators, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord systems
- Perform general maintenance projects, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and equipment repair
- Respond to resident maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
- Maintain vacated rooms, including painting, cleaning, and minor repairs
- Ensure common areas are properly maintained, including walls, flooring, doors, and woodwork
- Maintain positive communication with local fire marshals, building inspectors, and other regulatory agencies
- Assess plumbing and electrical problems and determine the best course of action
- Document safety issues and physical deficiencies according to local, state, and federal guidelines
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, assisting management as needed
- Foster teamwork and maintain a positive impact on residents, visitors, and coworkers
- Report any suspected elder maltreatment or abuse to the Director of Health and Wellness, Executive Director, and/or State
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of related experience in building maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of building systems and codes, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
- Valid state driver’s license required for vehicle travel
- Must meet all health requirements, including TB clearance
- First Aid certification required
- Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Applies common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
- Pleasant, professional, and personable demeanor
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
