About the role
The Maintenance Technician supports the daily operation, safety, and reliability of the organization’s facilities. This role performs routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting across building systems, equipment, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC support tasks, electrical fixtures, and general facility components.
- Complete work orders in a timely and accurate manner, documenting actions and parts used.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, and facility infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues and escalate when needed.
Facilities Support
- Aid with room setups, furniture moves, equipment installations, and workspace adjustments.
- Support facility inspections, safety checks, and compliance related tasks.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials; notify leadership when replenishment is needed.
- Help maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, mechanical rooms, and storage spaces.
Vendor & Project Assistance
- Support contractors and vendors by providing access, answering questions, and ensuring work aligns with facility standards.
- Absorb small facility projects, renovations, and repairs under the direction of the Facilities Director or Project Manager.
- Monitor contractor work for safety, quality, and adherence to timelines.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and OSHA guidelines.
- Report hazards, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Participate in emergency response activities as needed (e.g., power outages, leaks, facility disruptions).
Customer Service & Communication
- Respond to employee maintenance requests with professionalism and urgency.
- Communicate status updates clearly and ensure issues are resolved to standard.
- Represent the Facilities team with a service oriented, solutions focused approach.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or a related trade.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site environments is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Basic proficiency with maintenance tools, equipment, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, and basic technical documents.
- Strong communication and customer service mindset.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in power, electrical, industrial equipment, or similar manufacturing environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout facilities as needed.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs for supplies or materials.
- Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach items both high and low.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and work at heights for extended periods.
- May require occasional after hours or weekend support for urgent facility needs.
Work Environment
- Maintains the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
