Pay

• Starting pay: $30.20/hr
• $2.00 shift differential for second shift
• $1.50 shift differential for third shift
• Annual increases

Schedule

• Second Shift – 2:30pm – 11:00pm (Monday- Friday)
• Third Shift – 11:30pm – 7:00am (Sunday-Thursday)
• Overtime may be required as needed

About the Role

The Kraft Heinz Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our food processing facility in Newberry, SC. Successful candidates must be willing to supply improvements, suggestions, and ideas to help continue the success of our facility. Ideal individuals must be safety and quality-oriented, demonstrate adaptability, and work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

This position requires performing general production duties in a food manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of plant refrigeration and steam generation equipment, building and supporting facilities, as well as involvement in planning and executing installation, alteration, and modification of existing and new equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet defined physical activities.
• Perform general production duties following strict safety and product quality standards.
• Respond to plant calls relating to processing deficiencies.
• Analyze equipment operation and production methods to resolve problems.
• Develop and implement solutions to return processes to proper operating conditions and reduce/eliminate recurring problems.
• Operate processing equipment to troubleshoot deficiencies.
• Investigate, plan, and perform maintenance work requests in a timely and cost-effective manner, including repair, alteration, and design of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, chemical, and biological systems.
• Consult with plant personnel regarding equipment and facility repair/alteration.
• Prepare mechanical work requests and purchase requisitions for materials.
• Consult with vendors to procure supplies, troubleshoot equipment, and improve plant processes.
• Prepare material disbursement requisitions and timecards to document costs.
• Plan and complete preventative maintenance work requests, updating and writing new routines to improve equipment reliability.
• Perform daily pre-operational and post-operational checklists on processing and support equipment.
• Actively participate in maintenance QCDSM process and project teams.

Physical Requirements

• Spend most of the shift (8-12 hours) on their feet.
• Service equipment across over 50 acres, requiring significant walking on wet/slippery floors and concrete/asphalt surfaces.
• Wear tool pouches on the waist (approximately 15 pounds).
• Climb on, over, under, or through equipment, catwalks, railings, utility runs, small access doors, etc.
• Work in tight spaces, crawl spaces, and confined spaces, often lifting, lowering, or supporting equipment.
• Exert significant force on hand tools in dusty, smoky, or extreme temperature environments (-30°F to 100°F).
• Work in high humidity levels (up to 100%) during sanitation.

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Algebraic and geometric math skills.
• Detailed understanding of mechanical procedures related to maintenance applications, including:
  • Welding and Mechanical Power Transmission
  • Electrical Power Distribution and Control Systems
  • Basic Electronic Principles
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Controls and Power Distribution
• Ability to work with minimal direction.
• 1-3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; if not met, 1-2 years of continuous work experience is required.
