Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Gurwin Healthcare System is a full healthcare continuum serving the Long Island community. The position is located in Fountaingate Gardens, an independent living community.

Responsibilities

• Maintain property standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and functionality
• Respond to service requests in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner
• Assist with preventative maintenance programs and scheduled inspections
• Conduct property walks and equipment audits; identify and address maintenance issues
• Safely operate hand and power tools
• Perform unit turnover activities, including cleaning, painting, and repairs
• Communicate timelines and progress to the management team
• Participate in snow removal activities as directed
• Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods

Requirements

• Knowledge of and compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures

• A high attention to detail and accountability for quality and timeliness of work
• Reliability, dependability, and initiative to solve problems independently
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• A valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Working knowledge and hands-on experience with various HVAC systems, plumbing, minor electrical repairs, appliance repair, drywall preparation and repair, painting, and basic carpentry
• A general understanding of building systems, including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and central mechanical/HVAC systems (as applicable)
• Ability to learn and effectively navigate assigned maintenance applications and related technologies

Skills

• Ability to work independently through task completion
• Flexibility to work overtime, on weekends, and participate in the emergency on-call rotation
