About the role

Responsibilities

  • Respond to production downtime requests in a timely manner with a focus on positive internal customer service.
  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment to root cause, perform quality repairs as needed and escalate concerns to necessary departments.
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on equipment, while documenting work in Maintenance Management System.
  • Aid in the installation, modification, and relocation of equipment, including making connections to facility level utilities.
  • Provide input when equipment is purchased or upgraded to improve service and maintainability.
  • Leverage Inventory Management System to locate and source available machine components.
  • Mentor and develop Maintenance I and II team members going through the Gentex-sponsored apprenticeship program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree or Journeyman certification.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, vacuum pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Meet the following physical demands: High level of hand dexterity/coordination, ability to stand, remain stationary, and/or move about for 8 hours, ability to ascend ladders and traverse multiple building floors and areas, ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, squatting, or otherwise positioning body around equipment of varying heights, must be able to work overtime as needed.

  • Experience with troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controller programs.
  • Experience in electrical panel wiring.
  • Experience in machining.
  • Experience in automated robotic systems.
  • Experience in inventory management systems.
