Key Responsibilities
- Follow all safety rules and abide by Dalco Nonwovens policies and procedures as stipulated in the employee handbook.
- Repair, modify, and maintain all production equipment and company property.
- Install, assemble, fit, and align equipment and machinery according to prints or drawings, including precision alignment of machine components such as shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, rolls, and couplings using approved methods and tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks following standard procedures as indicated on PM route sheets or in equipment manuals, including lubrication of equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and make adjustments to mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and machinery, including fixed and variable speed transmission systems.
- Install and modify mechanical and hydraulic piping to plant or production equipment.
- Move material, equipment, and machinery using company-approved methods of lifting, rigging, hoist, blocking, skidding, and rolling.
- Use proper metal joining techniques such as arc and acetylene welding, brazing, and soldering as required for installation and repair of equipment.
- Perform light metal fabrication, wood construction, painting, and other miscellaneous or general maintenance work as required.
- Set up and operate shop equipment such as hand tools, electrical and air-powered portable tools, carpentry tools, and machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and saws.
- Participate in project work including equipment selection, installation and checkout, establishing procedures, setting up spare parts, and training.
- Work with department leaders to establish safe work practices and train staff to follow those practices.
- Participate in all safety and regulatory training needed to fulfill the duties of the position.
- Aid process engineering in experimental work and resolution of process problems.
- Complete shop records following established procedures as required for effective job performance and department operation.
- May be required to handle hazardous waste safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Service the needleboards as part of routine maintenance.
- Operate equipment including but not limited to the bologna slicer, forklift, and core cutter.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the maintenance department and company operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with equipment installation, alignment, and preventive maintenance.
- Proficiency in welding, brazing, soldering, and metal fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools.
- Ability to safely move heavy equipment using rigging and lifting techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and department leaders.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development.
