Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining aspects of the physical plant. Duties include conducting preventive maintenance, routine servicing, seasonal repairs, and changes, building equipment and plumbing repairs; maintaining a safe working environment; and assisting other department employees as needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform general maintenance duties, such as: fixing wall covers, floor covers and some furniture and fixtures; light plumbing work, minor electrical repair and appliance repairs.
  • Receive service requests and respond in a timely manner.
  • Perform painting and refurbishing projects, as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform minor building and equipment repairs.
  • Complete all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
  • Assist, during winter, with snow removal efforts as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of fountains, pumping and filtration system, where appropriate.
  • Perform maintenance on irrigation system (valves, timers and nozzles).
  • Perform routine maintenance on all vehicles when assigned.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition.
  • When qualified, assist the Director of Plant Operations and/or perform work on the heating and air conditioning systems, domestic water systems, refrigeration systems, pumps, motors, fans, electrical systems and emergency generators.
  • Maintain exterior and interior of all buildings.

  • Lifts and carries up to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Climbs, reaches, bends and twists frequently
  • Stands and walks frequently

Salary

Starting at $25.00/hour

Schedule

Full-time opportunity, Monday - Friday with rotating weekends

Qualifications

Must be experienced in maintenance and have a strong background in housekeeping and laundry functions. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk frequently.

Skills

Strong mechanical skills, ability to read blueprints, and knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HVAC systems are preferred.
