Duties And Responsibilities
- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect issues
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of issues
- Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to specific procedures
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production needs
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or other equipment
- Record production, repair, and machine maintenance
- Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations
- Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies
- Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse in order to maintain machinery and work
- Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment
- Adjust, install, fabricate, and make modifications of equipment to maintain or improve safety and quality of operational conditions or equipment efficiency
- Comply and participate in regulatory, Carlisle, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards (PSM, safety protocols, COS)
- Troubleshoot control systems, servo drives, motors, HMI’s and calibrate controls
- Maintain and enhance electrical and PLC systems
- Provide training to Maintenance technicians I & II as needed
- Articulate to vendors/engineers about machine issues to resolve technical problems
- Handle and audit preventative maintenance
- Perform other duties as required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of measuring gauges such as tape
- Prior experience operating a variety of machinery
- Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic math, reading, and writing abilities
- Ability to work under pressure to complete assigned tasks under stressful conditions
- Boiler operator certification or ability to obtain one
- Working knowledge of electrical codes including NEMA, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash
- Industrial electrical AC/DC troubleshooting skills, including ability to utilize electrical instrumentation (megohmmeter)
- Complete knowledge of all plant equipment (level III)
- Ability to use hand and portable tools, gas and arc welder, forklift, pickup truck, testing equipment, tape measure, computer (shop floor and ERP)
Education And Experience
- High School diploma or GED required
- Technical education preferred
- Three to five (3-5) years related maintenance experience
- Previous experience in the following maintenance areas preferred: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and boiler
- Mechanical background with rotating, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Electrical/mechanical troubleshooting experience
- PLC working knowledge
