Maintenance Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and resolving advanced issues that lower-tier technicians cannot (e.g., major HVAC, advanced electrical, or boiler issues)
- Leading or training lower-level technicians on company procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs
- Perform safety and quality inspections
- Aid service manager in overseeing large capital projects or coordinating with outside vendors
- Follow company safety procedures and appearance standards
- General grounds maintenance and repairs, such as cleaning common areas and assisting with trash removal, curb painting, etc.
- Acts as a team lead in Service Manager’s absence
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Considerable experience (2–5+ years), advanced technical knowledge, and strong troubleshooting skills
- EPA certification Type I, II, or Universal required; CPO preferred in some portfolios
Prior to Joining
- Mentoring and training Level 1 and 2 technicians in technical skills and company procedures
- Aid Service Manager in creating detailed, written reports for property management regarding system failures or compliance issues
- Ability to explain technical issues and next steps to residents in simple, clear language
- Interdepartmental communication with leasing teams to update them on apartment turnover and service request status
- Communicate directly with residents during emergency calls and appropriately respond to on-call scenarios independently
Communication Skills
Includes mentoring and training Level 1 and 2 technicians in technical skills and company procedures, assisting Service Manager in creating detailed, written reports for property management regarding system failures or compliance issues, explaining technical issues and next steps to residents in simple, clear language, interdepartmental communication with leasing teams to update them on apartment turnover and service request status, and communicating directly with residents during emergency calls and appropriately responding to on-call scenarios independently.
Technology Skills
- Advanced proficiency in property management and work order platforms (e.g., Yardi, SmartRent) for tracking service requests, preventive maintenance completion, and inventory levels
- Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools, pressure gauges, refrigerant charging equipment, and advanced troubleshooting instruments
- Familiarity with building automation systems where used
Physical/Work Requirements
- Frequent bending, lifting, walking, standing, and outdoor work
- Emergency/weekend support is required
- Ability to lift 50 lbs

- Following six (6) months of employment at the Company, you will be eligible per birth, adoption or placement of a child for four (4) weeks of paid parental leave as the primary caregiver to the child or two weeks of paid parental leave as the secondary caregiver to the child. Following two years of employment at the Company, you will be eligible for twelve weeks of paid parental leave per birth, adoption, or placement of a child if you are the primary caregiver of the child.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $5,000 per year of pre-approved tuition expenses will be reimbursed upon submission of approved documentation. Repayment obligations may apply if employment terminates prior to 24 months.
