Maintenance Technician
Role Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports the reliability and performance of production equipment and facility systems. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, and responds to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
Core Responsibilities
Support stable and efficient production systems.
- Execute preventive maintenance tasks according to PM schedules and CMMS work orders.
- Support optimization of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Contribute to reliability improvements and reduction of repeat failures.
Restore equipment quickly and effectively.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system failures.
- Replace and align motors, pumps, belts, bearings, gearboxes, and related components.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain industrial electrical and control systems.
- Troubleshoot VFDs, motor controls, relays, sensors, and industrial panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and P&IDs.
- Support PLC-related troubleshooting in collaboration with controls personnel.
Aid with system upgrades and installations.
- Support installation, start-up, and commissioning of new equipment and line modifications.
- Afford assistance with validation requirements within food manufacturing environments.
- Provide input on spare parts strategies and equipment improvement initiatives.
Maintain disciplined maintenance records.
- Complete detailed work orders and update equipment history in the CMMS.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation to support audits and inspections.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA standards, and GMP requirements at all times.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
4–7+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience; food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
Experience with motors, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial control panels.
Familiarity with PLC systems and industrial automation troubleshooting.
Experience using CMMS systems to document maintenance work.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Willingness to work flexible shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns.
Preferred:
- EPA certification (if refrigeration systems are involved).
- Welding, fabrication, or millwright experience.
- Formal apprenticeship or journeyman-level training.
- Experience with predictive maintenance tools.

Ability to stand, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Comfortable working in refrigerated, warm, and washdown production environments.
Ability to work varied shifts as needed to support operations.
