About the Role

Amsted Automotive, Cold Form and Finishing in Geneva, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 to perform mechanical repairs in the Wastewater Treatment area of the plant and basic repairs throughout the plant on 1st shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wastewater treatment, boiler chemistry, and environmental procedures.
  • Independently troubleshoot problems and complete corrective mechanical and welding actions.
  • Determine if machine parts can be repaired or replaced.
  • Independently correct maintenance problems in all plant areas.
  • Prepare requisitions for all spare and repair parts as required for presentation to department head/activity leader/team leader.
  • Assist and advise outside contractors on any and all work to be completed.
  • Plan and implement preventative maintenance program.
  • Assist and advise Engineering and other support groups as required.
  • Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork.
  • Help train and assist operators as required.
  • Perform necessary periodic maintenance on machines as required.
  • Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
  • Use various testing devices and chemicals according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform material handling activities using equipment, including forklifts, according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
  • Understand and perform ISO 14001 work instructions as identified in, “ISO 14001 Work Instruction Assignments”.
  • Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Understand and perform to the BN Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must successfully complete the pre-hire math test.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a maintenance function.
  • Electrical, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic analysis and repair skills.
  • Forklift operation experience.

  • Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability.
  • Excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and carry over 25 pounds frequently.
  • Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, grease, carbon, coolants, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.

Schedule

Full-time position. May require overtime and weekend hours.
