About the role
Amity Foundation is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their compassionate and enthusiastic team. This role offers opportunities to work with prison and re-entry programs while enhancing personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Perform property checks for service and cleanliness needs.
- Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Notify the Maintenance Lead Tech of potential maintenance problems.
- Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (e.g., drywall, painting, repairing doors and fixtures).
- Utilize powered and non-powered equipment safely.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on building systems.
- Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts/materials used.
- Collaborate with campus staff to minimize disruption to daily operations.
- Participate in community-building activities as appropriate to the position.
- Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.
- May serve in a Community Advocate role in addition to assigned duties.
- Uphold Amity’s standards of professionalism, respect, and confidentiality when entering residential spaces.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, facilities, or related trade
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a security clearance
- Current valid CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Tuberculosis test from a health professional
Qualifications
- OSHA or other safety training certifications
- Certifications or Licenses required: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, must be able to pass a security clearance, current valid CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days), Tuberculosis test from a health professional
- Preferred: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) & ESR (Emergency Service Response) certification
Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and basic HVAC systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressure in a residential setting
- Strong interpersonal skills with respectful communication toward residents and staff
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to high-quality work
