About the role

Amity Foundation is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their compassionate and enthusiastic team. This role offers opportunities to work with prison and re-entry programs while enhancing personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform property checks for service and cleanliness needs.
  • Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Notify the Maintenance Lead Tech of potential maintenance problems.
  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (e.g., drywall, painting, repairing doors and fixtures).
  • Utilize powered and non-powered equipment safely.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on building systems.
  • Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts/materials used.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to minimize disruption to daily operations.
  • Participate in community-building activities as appropriate to the position.
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.
  • May serve in a Community Advocate role in addition to assigned duties.
  • Uphold Amity’s standards of professionalism, respect, and confidentiality when entering residential spaces.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, facilities, or related trade
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a security clearance
  • Current valid CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Tuberculosis test from a health professional

Qualifications

  • OSHA or other safety training certifications
  • Certifications or Licenses required: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, must be able to pass a security clearance, current valid CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days), Tuberculosis test from a health professional
  • Preferred: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) & ESR (Emergency Service Response) certification

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and basic HVAC systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressure in a residential setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills with respectful communication toward residents and staff
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high-quality work

Pay

$24 - $32 an hour
