Maintenance Technician
About the role
As a Maintenance Technician at Alfa Laval, you’ll play a key role in keeping our facilities and equipment running safely and efficiently. This is a safety-sensitive position that involves operating heavy equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts, requiring a strong commitment to safe work practices.
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in keeping our facilities and equipment running safely and efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot down equipment, and resolve incoming problems.
- Use proper Lock-Out Tag-Out processes and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Notify management and/or the HS&E specialist of any safety risks or repairs required.
- Understand and prioritize work plans to complete assignments with high quality and timeliness.
- Select and safely use a variety of hand, power, and specialty tools for maintenance tasks.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by monitoring stock levels and anticipating needs.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve job results.
- Avoid overtime and minimal local travel.
- Assist contractors as needed to support team success.
- Mentor Maintenance Technician I.
- Keep the workplace organized during tasks and ensure it is returned to its original condition after work is completed.
- Perform welding and fabrication when necessary to support maintenance and repair activities.
Requirements
- High School degree or GED equivalent with relevant experience.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Basic math skills required including ability to read a tape measure.
- Prior maintenance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting preferred.
- Electrical or mechanical technician experience or education preferred.
- Forklift and scissor lift operation experience preferred.
- Overhead crane experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment: steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
- Must have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
- Must have mobility & posture: standing, walking, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and balancing on varied surfaces.
- Must have manual dexterity: reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects using upper body strength.
- Must have fine motor skills: repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers for precision tasks.
- Must communicate effectively through speech and hearing.
- Must be able to operate in confined spaces such as narrow aisles or passageways.

- Ability to locate sources of mechanical problems by observing devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Ability to remove defective parts by dismantling devices.
- Ability to understand and prioritize work plans to complete assignments with high quality and timeliness.

Pay
The base salary for this role is typically $24.00 - $28.00.
Schedule
No climate-controlled environment. Work near hazards: moving machinery, vehicles, electrical currents, and chemicals. Encounter atmospheric conditions: fumes, dust, gases, odors, and poor ventilation. Operate in confined spaces such as narrow aisles or passageway. Communicate effectively through speech and hearing.
