Maintenance Technician
A.O. Smith is a global leader in manufacturing water heating equipment and boilers, with operations in the United States and abroad. This role is essential for maintaining smooth production operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on all manufacturing equipment, including plastic injection molding machines, chillers, dryers, and grinders.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify and address potential problems before they escalate.
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and the relocation of existing machinery.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate with production personnel to identify and address equipment issues and implement solutions.
- Support manufacturing teams with advanced technical knowledge and solutions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Associate degree or relevant certification preferred.
- Vocational school or junior technical college training in applicable technical areas.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience; experience in an injection molding or plastic manufacturing environment highly preferred.
- Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines, and perform analysis and repair work in close quarters.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems common with industrial machines.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
Education
The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree or relevant certification preferred. Vocational school or junior technical college training in applicable technical areas is also beneficial.
Physical Requirements
The Maintenance Technician must be able to perform tasks that require lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions.
