Maintenance Technician (All Sections)

Responsibilities

  • Operating dump trucks
  • Performing vehicle and equipment pre/post trip inspections
  • Maintaining fluids and performing basic corrective repairs
  • Assisting with asphalt, concrete, stormwater and street cleaning operations
  • Assisting with Collection System TV inspections and flush truck operations
  • Installing and flagging traffic control devices
  • Handling materials and cleaning debris or hazards from worksites
  • Maintaining equipment by inspecting, greasing, cleaning, checking fluid levels, and filling as required
  • Signaling operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
  • Transporting vehicles to/from repair facilities
  • Submitting written and electronic records including timesheets, maintenance history reports, pre/post trip inspection forms, and other cost records
  • Checking and cleaning basins
  • Using performance management system to document work progress and performance
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Two or more years of maintenance experience operating tools and equipment used in construction
  • Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver's license "or" willingness to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire
  • Valid NC Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement "or" relevant experience
  • Familiarity with rebuilding manholes/basins, placing structures, and cleaning pipes and culverts
  • Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work under emergency or disaster event conditions
  • Willingness to work overtime and an altered schedule based upon weather conditions and work demands
