Maintenance Technician A
About the role
Lunds & Byerlys is a family-owned grocery retailer committed to providing quality, value, and service. This position is part of the retail maintenance team, responsible for performing routine and non-routine types of preventive and ongoing maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to all Lunds & Byerlys team members, modeling company customer service standards.
- Follow appropriate equipment/tool repair and maintenance guidelines for preventive and routine maintenance to assure safety standards.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment safely, following all mechanical, electrical and plumbing codes.
- Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Control downtime by prioritizing work orders according to business needs.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area ensuring workspace and storage areas are free from debris and clutter at all times. Report unsafe work environment to management.
Requirements
- Completion of two-year technical degree or equivalent knowledge/experience.
- Certification in one or more maintenance related trade (including refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, millwright, plumbing, machining, etc.).
- Forklift/scissor lift certification (ability to obtain and maintain).
- Boiler’s license (ability to obtain and maintain).
- Special Engineering license (ability to obtain and maintain).
- Lock out/tag out (LOTO) (ability to obtain and maintain).
- Five or more years’ experience in commercial or industrial equipment and building repairs with a solid understanding of building controls.
- Experience with CMMS and PM systems desired.
- HVAC and refrigeration system experience.
Qualifications
- Education: Completion of two-year technical degree or equivalent knowledge/experience.
- Licensing: Certification in one or more maintenance related trade (including refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, millwright, plumbing, machining, etc.). Forklift/scissor lift certification (ability to obtain and maintain).
- Experience: Five or more years’ experience in commercial or industrial equipment and building repairs with a solid understanding of building controls. Experience with CMMS and PM systems desired. HVAC and refrigeration system experience.

- Ability to follow all food, personal, safety and sanitation guidelines including hand washing, wearing proper uniform, sanitizing, repairing, maintaining equipment and tools to guard against contamination, and assure all product is safe for consumption.
- Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
- Ability to weld with MIG, TIG & STICK.
- Knowledge of building maintenance.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
- Strong mechanical, electrical and equipment troubleshooting abilities and skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- PLC programming.

Pay
The competitive wage range of $30.00-$40.00/hr reflects our desire to attract top talent who exemplify our core values of integrity, teamwork, and innovation.
Schedule
This position works primarily Monday-Friday with a rotating on-call schedule that covers night and weekend emergencies.
