About the role
The Maintenance Technician will aid in the upkeep and repair of all plant functions and other departments in time of need, such as repairs or support and assist in the upkeep of parts, inventory, plant housekeeping and safety.
Responsibilities
- Performs monthly preventative maintenance as directed by Supervisor.
- Performs repairs and general maintenance in all areas of manufacturing plant.
- Aids in upkeep of parts and supplies inventory.
- Observes plant safety rules.
- Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern.
- Aids in monitoring of quality of work output and maintenance procedures.
- Cooperates with Supervisor in completing jobs in the most time and cost effective manner.
- Affords assistance in monitoring and repairing down equipment.
- Affords assistance in monitoring and ensuring adherence to cost standards for materials, supplies and equipment.
- Maintains a neat and orderly working area and assists other departments in the cleanliness and organization of working areas when projects overlap other department areas.
- Reports any problems or concerns to their direct Supervisor.
- To maintain good working relations with all other employees.
- Strives to have no conflicts with other department employees.
- Exemplifies teamwork; ensuring success or organizational goals and metrics.
- Encouraged to bring any ideas to light for possible usage in factory functions.
- Actively engages in the execution of key projects that could include equipment install, line re-design, kaizen driven improvements, and other initiatives as directed.
- Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, or others, or to property.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience/Knowledge: General knowledge of Maintenance, Experience with preventative maintenance programs, Good team working skills, Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in machine repair, tool & die and/or machinist areas, Minimum of 1-3 years’ mechanic troubleshooting experience.
- Preferred Experience/Qualifications: Related Technical Degree, Licensing in Electrical, Welding or related field, Journeyman Electrician a plus, Experience with LEAN application, including 5S and SMED principles, is a plus, Experience working within a TPM program a plus.
Qualifications
- Understanding of mechanical workings of a variety of production equipment.
- Ability to repair and install machinery.
- Ability to prioritize projects.
- Flexibility to deal with interruptions and reprioritize as needed.
- Ability to analyze problems and make independent judgment, making recommendations for corrective action or resolution.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Standing and walking approximately 90 (ninety) percent of work time.
- Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
- Willingness to work all/any shifts.
- Typical plant/manufacturing environment with concrete floors and moving equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
