Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform planned, unplanned, and emergency maintenance and repairs on production, processing, packaging, and utility equipment in accordance with all safety procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to ensure equipment reliability and performance
- Read and interpret technical procedures, schematics, manuals, and work orders
- Support installation and startup of new equipment
- Aid operators with training and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Complete and document work orders accurately, timely, and in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment safely
- Communicate with operations, maintenance, and management regarding equipment issues affecting production
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, GMPs, food safety, quality, sanitation, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with state and federal health and safety regulations
- Support continuous improvement efforts and stay current with new equipment and technologies
Requirements
- Demonstrate proficiency in maintenance and mechanical activities to ensure equipment operates safely, effectively, and efficiently
- Work with limited supervision, receiving guidance on complex or new assignments, and serve as a technical resource for less experienced employees
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Trade or technical school training preferred (electrical, PLC/HMI, mechanical, welding/fabrication, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.)
- 2-4 years of maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, PLC, HVAC), preferably in manufacturing
- Experience with industrial equipment including material handling, motor/relay/process controls, lubrication, cleaning, and packaging systems
- Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred
- Multi-Craft mechanical experience preferred
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret charts, drawings, specifications, schedules, and wiring diagrams
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment to prevent failures and downtime
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment
- Ability to work independently and assist with complex repairs and projects
- Ability to plan and complete minor to mid-sized projects
- Ability to identify process improvements and adapt to change
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Basic computer skills
- Basic math (whole numbers, fractions, decimals)
