Purpose Of The Role

The Maintenance Technician 2 will primarily be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the optimum performance and productivity of machinery used in our production/manufacturing facility.
  • The development and improved capability of the maintenance technicians 2 to achieve self-sufficiency across the technologies they work.

Essential Functions And Job Duties

General Duties:

  • Collaborate and lead team members, solve complex problems, make informed decisions and ensure the accuracy and quality of work within his areas of expertise.
  • Team Support:
    • Ensure a high level of equipment efficiency and work order completion.
    • Serves as a training resource for other members of the maintenance team.
    • Also will be providing training and be responsible for qualifying machine operators.

Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Must work well within the maintenance team, take direction from managers, and be flexible when faced with changing priorities.

Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; and establishing personal networks.

Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Equipment Operation Experience

  • In operating manual and power tools (drills, saws, nails guns, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.…)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, gloves, arch flash equipment, etc.…) adequate for the specific assigned tasks.

Reporting

  • Be familiar with all the documentation required to perform his/her role and complete all required documentation as needed.
  • Close assignments following the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Sanitation Support

  • Supports the company’s sanitation program.
  • Must keep all work areas in an orderly condition, performing any combination of duties, such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, washing, and wiping after a task is completed.
  • Uses Food Safety Work Practices ensuring no product is contaminated as a consequences of conducting duties of this position.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • High Comprehension of established S.O.P.’s.
  • High knowledge of all equipment functionality for the respective area.

Communication

  • Maintain effective communication with other members of the maintenance team and Sr. leads concerning mutual problems.
  • Discuss with the Direct Supervisor/Manager any situations that affect the department’s goal attainment and suggest solutions.
  • Execute administrative systems assuring co-workers and upper management are always treated professionally and respectfully.
  • Assure communication with other functional areas employees are always conducted in a professional and respectful manner.

Food Safety And Quality

  • Ensure WIPs and Finished goods are made with the highest quality in a timely manner.
  • Report on quality defect issues and help determine necessary corrective actions to eliminate repetitive failures.
  • Adhere to quality standards to ensure product quality and Food Safety by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP s), standard operating procedures (SOP s).
  • Attends Food Safety/Quality training sessions.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining respective work areas.

Safety Activities

  • Before starting your regular work, search your working area 360 degrees for any unsafe conditions, and report to your direct lead or supervisor.
  • Follow safety procedures, PPEs, food safety standards, and company policies.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety rules.

System Responsibility

  • Ensure Raven (production performance application) data entry is accurate on a timely basis.
  • CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) Ensure data entered is accurate on a timely basis.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge Skill and Abilities (KSAs):
    • Knowledge:
      • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
      • Subject Matter Expert on Equipment and Machinery used in the Production and Warehousing functions.
      • Preventative Maintenance methods and procedures for equipment, machinery and facilities.
      • SOP’s and how to use it as a tool to train and develop preventive maintenance routines.
      • Knowledge of safe use of power tools.
      • Knowledge of proper use of PPE.
      • Knowledge and understanding of proper use of volt/ohm/meter(VOM).
      • Knowledge of safe and proper use of hand tools.
      • All applicable OSHA safety regulations and comply with Good Manufacturing Policies/Practices, rules, and regulations.
      • Machinery, electrical, and other systems and their components, tools, etc.
      • Lockout-tagout policies/procedures.
      • Electrical (24v to 480v) is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Communicates (verbally and written) with a high level of professionalism.
    • Multi-tasking with strong time-management skills.
    • Highly organized.
  • Abilities:
    • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures that are beneficial to the maintenance process.
    • Interface with all levels of employees within the organization.
    • Able to work both independently and within a team environment.
    • Work within established organizational policies and regulations.
    • Work safely without endangering yourself or others.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines given by the Manager and/or Supervisor.
    • Able to lift 50lbs, all items that are >50lbs or that require lifting must be done properly and with the assistance of another employee if needed.
    • Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred but not required.
    • Ability to become familiar with sketches, diagrams, concepts, procedures, and operations manuals of equipment used in food manufacturing and processing. This includes both mechanical and electrical technologies.
    • Ability to read and understand MSDS.
    • Ability to use and develop SOP’s to ensure adherence to standards.
    • Desire to coach and develop both personnel in maintenance and the operating departments.
    • Flow to work as required to support the needs of the business.
    • A passion for continuous improvement in equipment efficiency, work process simplification and capability building of individuals- maintenance and operating technicians.
    • Communication with other stakeholders to assign priorities and troubleshoot equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • For the role of Maintenance Technician 1 the physical requirements are typical for operating a warehouse environment.
  • Some physical demands may include: Warehouse environment: due to materials used, there is exposure to dusty materials; utilization of standard warehouse equipment which includes forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
  • As needed, employees must be able to use both hands to properly inspect the work site. Usage of hands will be constant.
  • At times, employees will be subject to extended standing.

Annual Pay Range

The annual pay range for this full-time position is $70,000 - $80,000. Our pay ranges are guided by the discipline, level, and experience required. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including your specific location, desired skills/ technical competency, relevant experience, and advanced education/ training.
