About the role
Maintenance technicians provide technical support, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machines, perform preventative maintenance duties as assigned, and respond to breakdowns professionally and on time while following all safety protocols. This role requires working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, and rebuild all production equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Coordinate maintenance processes with the production department to minimize impact on production output and packaging
- Respond to calls from production and management to make repairs
- Perform established preventative maintenance programs
- Assist with all aspects of new equipment installation
- Assist management with scheduling maintenance projects
- Maintain accurate and complete departmental records
- Record all work in Fiix CMMS
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, construction drawings, machine manuals, and electrical blueprints/schematics
- Ensure all equipment adheres to all applicable safety requirements
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain good 6S housekeeping standards
- Work with contractors as needed
- Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and complete repairs
- Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment
- Monitor, identify, and correct signs of malfunctions
- Use a Megger and change/program new drives
- Repair and test motors, starters, PLCs, and controls
- Perform minor electrical repairs
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
- Program and fix faults utilizing a laptop
- Troubleshoot, find, and correct issues
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment in assigned area
- Review and improve current PM processes
- Lead a die improvement Kaizen
- Assist and guide Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Drive a forklift
- Identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions
- Perform alignment of belts, chains, and shafts
- Replace bearings and leadscrews
- Use a variety of hand and power tools
- Read and comply with work orders
- Install and repair light curtains and scanners so they function properly
- Perform minor electrical repairs on production equipment such as frayed cords, switches, and sensors
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial maintenance
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience with DC drives, servos, solenoids, photo eyes, relays, limit switches, and electric motors
- Experience with PLC systems, preferably Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Direct Logic
- High school diploma or GED
- Associates degree in electrical or mechanical field or graduation from a trade school (preferred but not mandatory)
- Certifications are a plus
Skills
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and complete repairs
- Ability to work with maintenance tools, including 480-volt and 3-phase electric voltmeter
- Ability to install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment
- Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience
- Ability to read an electrical schematic
- Knowledge of how to use a Megger
- Ability to change and program new drives
- Ability to repair and test motors, starters, PLCs, and controls
- Able to perform minor electrical repairs
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
- Able to program and fix faults utilizing a laptop
- Able to troubleshoot, find, and correct issues
- Good working knowledge of Siemens PLC systems
- Able to perform preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment in assigned area
- Able to review and improve current PM processes
- Able to lead a die improvement Kaizen
- Able to assist and guide LOTO procedures
- Able to drive a forklift
- Able to identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions
- Able to perform alignment of belts, chains, and shafts
- Able to replace bearings and leadscrews
- Able to use a variety of hand and power tools
- Basic electrical skills and knowledge
- Able to install and repair light curtains and scanners
- Able to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
- High volume manufacturing environment with forklift traffic
- May have higher noise volume in areas – hearing protection required
- Requires ability to stand for long periods up to 8 to 10 hours
- May need to lift up to 40 lbs
