Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining both production equipment and the physical plant under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. The role requires in-depth knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Embrace the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and the physical plant
• Wear all necessary protective equipment as per Safety Policy and OSHA standards
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping, and adhering to safety guidelines
• Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and the physical plant
• Install new equipment and systems
• Complete Work Request forms within the manufacturing data system
• Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in welding and cutting
• Forklift/crane certification
• Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic repairs and installation
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and the use of a multimeter
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels
• Able to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, operating instructions, maintenance information, and procedure manuals
• Able to perform basic arithmetic operations
• Able to communicate effectively in English

Education Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, required
• One-year certificate from a technical school, preferred
• Industry knowledge and experience, a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
• The physical demands include sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, talking or hearing, standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Moderate physical activity required, performing daily activities that are primarily production and/or technical in nature
• The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
