Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

Location: Plainfield, CT • 1st Shift

About the role

This role within the Maintenance Department requires foundational skills in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems for production equipment and facility operations. The ideal candidate brings basic millwright knowledge—including welding, rigging, and mechanical repair—along with the ability to diagnose electrical devices and circuits and apply basic PLC fundamentals. Strong blueprint and schematic reading skills are essential, as well as a solid understanding of predictive, preventive, and proactive maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Works safely and adheres to all Morgan Corporation safety policies across all work areas.
• Operates effectively in a team-oriented, safety-focused environment with a strong Safety First attitude aligned to company guidelines.
• Safely operates required hand tools and powered/non-powered portable tools and uses them confidently on a daily basis.
• Understands and applies measurement principles; capable of using precision tools such as dial indicators, calipers, and electrical test equipment.
• Possesses basic PLC troubleshooting skills and a working understanding of AC and DC electrical circuits.
• Capable of operating heavy and complex equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, basket trucks, and overhead cranes.
• Performs tasks from ladders, platforms, and scaffolding while utilizing proper fall-protection equipment.
• Understands and adheres to quality policies to ensure consistent and accurate work.
• Reads and interprets work orders and applies instructions accurately to assigned tasks.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support operations.
• Performs other duties as required by management.
• Understands relevant state, local, and federal codes and regulations (e.g., OSHA, NEC).
• Demonstrates self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and a strong desire for continuous improvement and growth.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a maintenance department within a manufacturing environment.
• Must hold a current and valid state-issued driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 35 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, stooping, reaching, and squatting.
• Active role involving standing, walking, and using hands to tackle hands-on tasks with precision.
• Repetitive handwork, climbing ladders, and working at heights.
• Crawling into tight spots and reaching high areas as part of daily tasks.
