Job Purpose
The Maintenance Technical Supervisor provides frontline maintenance leadership for an assigned 12-hour shift within a 24/7 fairlife manufacturing operation. This role leads technicians, coordinates shift maintenance activities, supports safe and reliable equipment performance, and ensures strong communication between shifts and cross-functional partners. The role balances immediate production support with long-term reliability, TPM, food safety, and asset-care expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and prioritize all maintenance activities during the assigned 12-hour shift with a focus on safety, food safety, quality, production support, and equipment reliability.
- Provide coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback to maintenance technicians while reinforcing fairlife values, accountability, urgency, and professional standards.
- Respond to breakdowns, lead troubleshooting efforts, and ensure repairs are completed safely, effectively, and to established maintenance and GMP standards.
- Accurately use D365/CMMS for work order creation, labor entry, failure documentation, parts usage, work order closure, and maintenance history.
- Lead formal shift turnover by communicating equipment status, downtime events, open work orders, ongoing repairs, parts needs, safety concerns, quality risks, and incoming-shift priorities.
- Partner with the Maintenance Supply Supervisor, MRO Buyer, Planners, and Reliability team to ensure critical assets have appropriate safety stock, validated min/max levels, and timely escalation of stock-out or obsolete parts risks.
- Cook with Production, Quality, Engineering, Utilities, Planning, Reliability, Stockroom, and Procurement to minimize downtime, support schedule execution, and protect business continuity.
- Support TPM, autonomous maintenance, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement through floor presence, Gemba-style observations, and action-item follow-up.
- Support root cause analysis for repeat failures, critical downtime events, safety incidents, and quality-related maintenance issues; ensure corrective actions are documented and completed.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, LOTO requirements, food safety programs, GMPs, environmental expectations, and regulatory standards.
Skills/Qualifications Required
- Associate degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience and leadership capability.
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience; FDA or high-speed packaging experience preferred.
- Ability to lead in a 24/7 operation while making sound decisions in coordination with Operations.
- Strong technical aptitude for troubleshooting complex equipment and systems, using available engineering and operational documentation.
- Familiarity with P&ID's, BOM's, and Work Order System, root cause analysis, reliability improvement, and critical spare parts management.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership capabilities, driving collaboration through communication, mentoring, and structured execution.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- 12-hour 2/2/3 shift schedule working in a 24/7 manufacturing environment; nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
- Primarily plant-floor based role requiring frequent walking, standing, and equipment inspections throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours during a shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent reaching, bending, stair climbing, work around platforms, and occasional ladder use.
- Exposure to moving machinery, wet environments, noise, temperature variation, chemicals, utilities equipment, confined spaces, and energized equipment when properly controlled.
- Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with all safety, GMP, food safety, and plant access requirements.
Food Safety Requirements
- Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
- Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
- Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
- Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until corrected.
- In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
- Ensure maintenance work areas, tools, parts, and equipment are maintained in a sanitary condition and do not introduce foreign material, chemical, allergen, or microbiological risk.
